If you are an employer that provides disability awareness training to your staff, you may be eligible to receive grant aid for this training. The Disability Awareness Training Support Scheme provides grants for employers to provide disability awareness training for their staff.
The training informs employers and staff members of issues in the workplace and will address the common questions and concerns regrading working with people with disabilities. Employers are encouraged to take positive action training to eliminate discrimination and to acheive equality under the Employment Equality Acts 1998-2011 and the Equal Status Acts 2000-2011.
Grants of up to 90%
Under the Disability Awareness Training Support Scheme, grants of 90% of eligible training costs, up to a maximum of €20,000, are available to private companies in the first year and 80% in the second and subsequent years. The grant covers:
- The trainer's fees
- The learning materials including videos, manuals and books up to the cost of €650.
- IT/internet based programme fees
The following activities are not grant aided:
- Purchase of hardware equipment for training purposes
- Apprenticeship training
- Consultancy projects associated with equipment
- Conferences, trade exhibitions, seminars and workshops
